Conversations
North Shore SING grew out of a desire to root ourselves more deeply in this place we call home. An awareness that our address is much more than a street. Our address includes the Ipswich River Watershed consisting of 150 square miles. Our neighbors are human and more-than-human: trees, turtle, insects, birds, raccoon, chipmunk, fox.
This awareness opens our heart, mind and imagination to a broader and deeper way of belonging. It is no longer just about us as humans but about all our neighbors in the natural world. As these connections deepen so does our sense of responsibility one to the other. As indigenous elder Robin Wall Kimmerer reminds us ‘we are all mutually interdependent.’
Such an expansive sense of belonging mirrors our spiritual life. As we come to understand the ground upon which we stand as sacred, we no longer see nature as a commodity, rather a sacred relationship to learn from and protect.. As our sense of belonging expands we are invited too, to consider the Source that brought all that is into being. In my faith tradition I am invited into a relationship with a Creator … both cosmic and close. How about you?
We call this page ‘conversations’. On an ongoing basis North Shore SING will be posting news, opinion articles, and inspiring quotes about this conversation between nature and the spiritual journey. Welcome.
